SSIS TIMES

SSIS TED Ed Clubs

To spark and celebrate the ideas of every student

  • An initiative that helps students find, develop, and present their ideas through TED-style speeches.
  • A place where students may research topics, think critically, and exchange ideas.
  • A system that links pupils to a worldwide community while assisting them in acquiring presentation literacy skills.

Students collaborate to discuss and recognise original ideas. They use the adaptable public speaking curriculum developed by TED-Ed as a guide, and they use their Idea Journals to get inspiration for future TED speakers and leaders. Students gain 21st-century skills through the programme, strengthen their bonds with one another and with their teachers, and become more equipped to speak up against issues that affect both the present and the future.

SSIS Writers Club

SSIS Writers Club as an extension of SSIS’s Student Apex Tweet (S-SAT) aims to teach kids the value of critical thinking while also giving them tips on how to read critically, do research, take notes, and write critically. They can analyse subjects, compare one piece of research to others in the field, and, in the end, form an opinion on a subject and write a convincing justification for it thanks to their critical reading skills.
Similar to teaching any other ability, teaching to write requires practise, false starts, mistakes, collaboration, correction, coaching, and a lot more training before it leads to speed, endurance, and agility. We are aware that coaching and competition are beneficial learning strategies; SSIS’s Writer’s Club applies the competition model to the heart of the student’s writing life. The writer’s club is a place to generate ideas, explore thinking and play with language. It is a safe space where writing can be incomplete without the red pen’s judgment. Often when working through an idea or reflecting on their understanding, students need that space to be right or wrong or to write through an idea or reflect on their understanding. The writer’s club makes a positive impact as an integral part of the students writing journey.
